Bayelsa Presents Two Coaster Buses to Medical University

The Bayelsa State Government has presented two coaster buses to the Bayelsa Medical University, Yenagoa, to improve transportation and support academic activities across the institution's two campuses.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Nimibofa Ayawei, presented the vehicle documents to the university's Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dimie Ogoina, at Government House, Yenagoa, on Tuesday.

Ayawei, speaking on behalf of Governor Douye Diri, said the buses were procured to meet the university's transportation needs.

He said the vehicles would facilitate the movement of staff and students between the university's main campus in Yenagoa and its satellite campus in Sampou.

“These buses are meant to improve logistics and support academic activities,” Ayawei said.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ogoina, thanked Governor Diri and the state government for fulfilling their commitment to the institution.

He said the buses would improve movement between the two campuses, enhance staff and student welfare and support academic activities.

Ogoina assured the state government that the vehicles would be properly maintained and used effectively.

The State Commissioner for Education, Dr Gentle Emelah, described the allocation of the buses as a boost to transportation and the welfare of the university community.

He said the gesture reflected the state government's continued commitment to providing support for educational institutions.

The Bayelsa Medical University is a specialised institution focused on medical education and training and plays a role in developing medical professionals for Bayelsa and other parts of the country.

The presentation was witnessed by the Acting Chief of Staff, Government House, Mr. Irorodamie Komonibo, and members of the university's management team.
