Aba Fashion Week 2026 has formalised a partnership with the Abia State Government following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to support the growth of fashion and the creative industry in the state.

The agreement was signed during a ceremony attended by the Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Creative Economy, Matthew Ekwuribe; the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Chibuzo Ehiemere; and the founder of Aba Fashion Week, Ugomdi Ogbonna.

The partnership is expected to strengthen efforts to promote Aba's fashion industry, showcase local craftsmanship and create greater opportunities for fashion entrepreneurs and other players in the creative sector.

The agreement comes ahead of Aba Fashion Week 2026, scheduled to hold from November 25 to 27 under the theme, “Craft to Capital.”

The three day event is expected to feature runway presentations, masterclasses and other activities focused on fashion, business, creativity and entrepreneurship.

Organisers said the event would provide a platform for showcasing local talent, developing fashion brands and promoting Made in Aba products to wider markets.

The partnership with the state government marks another step in efforts to position Aba's creative industry for broader recognition and commercial opportunities.

With its established reputation for craftsmanship and manufacturing, Aba remains a key centre for locally produced fashion and related products.

The organisers said the 2026 edition would focus on connecting creative skills with business opportunities, encouraging fashion entrepreneurs to build sustainable brands and expand their reach beyond the local market.

Members of the press also witnessed the ceremony.
