‎2026 Matriculation: Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic to Commission New Buildings, Tackle Result Delays

The Rector of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, Engr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, has announced that several ongoing construction and renovation projects at the institution’s Osisioma Campus will be commissioned during the 2026 matriculation ceremony scheduled for March.

Prof. Okoro made the disclosure on Wednesday while addressing members of the Institution’s Academic Board at a meeting held at the Polytechnic Auditorium.

He commended the Abia State Government for its sustained investment in infrastructural development at the Polytechnic, noting that the Osisioma Campus, which has been in existence since 1994, is currently undergoing unprecedented transformation.

According to the Rector, the scale of development reflects purposeful leadership and a genuine commitment to educational advancement.

“The Osisioma Campus will commence full academic activities in 2026. It takes an intentional leader who believes in education to bring this long-standing vision to fruition,” he said.

On concerns surrounding delays in the uploading of students’ results, Prof. Okoro directed all departments to immediately review students’ account statuses and ensure the timely submission and processing of results.

He stressed that failure to make examination results accessible to students amounts to a lapse in institutional responsibility, as he issued firm deadlines for full compliance.

The Rector also announced the introduction of official staff and student identification cards, which he said would become mandatory access passes into the institution to enhance security and order.

He expressed appreciation to members of the Polytechnic management for their support in driving the institution’s development agenda, emphasizing the need to sustain standards and promote institutional excellence.

“I thank the management for believing in this institution and supporting the developmental vision of His Excellency. Together, we will continue to uphold quality and ensure that the right structures are put in place,” Prof. Okoro added.
