BREAKING: AIG Tunji Disu Named New IGP as Tinubu Removes Egbetokun

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reportedly removed Kayode Egbetokun as the Inspector General of Police, appointing Assistant Inspector General of Police Tunji Disu as his replacement.

The development emerged on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, following mounting concerns over Egbetokun’s leadership, with reports linking his removal to a series of controversies and performance related issues. Sources familiar with the matter disclosed that the President directed the outgoing police chief to commence handover procedures, signalling an immediate change at the top of the Nigeria Police Force.
