Warri Wolves, Niger Tornadoes Unveil New Signings Ahead Of NPFL Season

Warri Wolves and Niger Tornadoes have strengthened their squads with a combined 17 new players ahead of the 2026/27 Nigeria Premier Football League season.

Warri Wolves unveiled 12 new players as part of efforts to prepare for another top-flight campaign after retaining their NPFL status on the final day of last season.

Former Shooting Stars defender Samuel Okon is among the new arrivals, while several players joined the Seasiders from PSports FA.

Striker James Akawu, Ubah Cyracus and Alex Aguodoh have also returned to Nigeria after spells in Mexico, Egypt and Niger respectively.

Auwal Abubakar and Ezegbu Divine Justice joined the Warri-based club from Ahzuba FC of Kano.

Warri Wolves said they would announce more signings before the start of the new season.

The Seasiders will begin their campaign away to Bendel Insurance in Benin on August 30.

Niger Tornadoes have also unveiled five new players as the club begins a major squad rebuilding process ahead of the new season.

The Minna-based club signed midfielder Moses Ibrahim Amatsaka from El Kanemi Warriors, while four homegrown players were promoted from local academies within Niger State.

The promoted players are Alhassan Mohammad, Abba Yahaya, Badejo Mikel and Joseph Bulus.

The new arrivals follow the departure of several first-team regulars to other NPFL clubs.

Niger Tornadoes also narrowly avoided relegation to the Nigeria National League on the final day of last season.

Head coach Majin Mohammed will lead the integration of the new players as the club prepares for the 2026/27 campaign.

The club said the latest signings represent the first phase of a wider restructuring aimed at strengthening the squad and improving on last season's performance.
