CBM Abia Disowns Emeka Kenneth Uche as Alleged Student Coordinator

The CityBoy Movement (CBM), Abia State Chapter, has clarified its Student Affairs structure, stating that the position of “Student Coordinator, CBM Youth Wing, Abia State” is not recognised within the approved structure of the organisation.

The clarification followed a recent publication concerning a protest at the CityBoy Movement headquarters in Umuahia, where Comrade Emeka Kenneth Uche was reportedly identified as the “Student Coordinator of the CBM Youth Wing, Abia State.”

In a statement, the State Chapter said Uche had never been appointed, designated or authorised by the appropriate leadership of the Movement to occupy or act in that capacity.

The State Director of Student Affairs, Ambassador Comrade Paschal Emediegwu, said the designation does not form part of the recognised organogram or administrative structure of the Student Affairs Department in Abia State.

Emediegwu stated that he remains the duly recognised State Director of Student Affairs and is responsible for coordinating the affairs of the students' community within the structure assigned to the department.

He said the creation or projection of offices outside the recognised structure could cause confusion among students, coordinators, members of the Movement and the general public.

The State Director said the Student Affairs Department was committed to maintaining a clear and coordinated leadership structure, particularly in matters concerning student representation within the Movement.

The Abia State Chapter therefore dissociated its Student Affairs structure from statements, representations or activities undertaken by persons who have not been officially authorised to represent the department.

The Movement acknowledged the right of citizens to express grievances and participate in lawful and peaceful activities, but said such activities should not be presented as official positions or actions of the Student Affairs Department without authorisation.

The organisation urged members of the public, media organisations, students, CBM members and other stakeholders to rely on official communication from recognised leaders when reporting matters concerning the Student Affairs Department.

The CityBoy Movement, Abia State Chapter, said it would continue to engage with students and coordinate their participation through what it described as a properly constituted and accountable structure.
