Abia Patriots Urge Otti to Fast-Track Renewable Energy Transition

The Abia Patriots (TAP) have commended Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for announcing plans to transition the state to renewable energy through the conversion of organic waste, while calling on the government to expedite the implementation of the initiative.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, the group described the plan as a timely intervention with the potential to positively impact the state’s economy, environment, and overall energy security.

According to the Secretary-General of TAP, Mazi Adindu Madumere, the proposed conversion of organic waste to biogas would significantly reduce environmental pollution, improve public health outcomes, and stimulate economic growth across the state.

The plan is a beacon of hope for Abia’s energy future. By converting organic waste to biogas, we will reduce pollution, improve public health, and boost economic growth,” Madumere stated.

The group noted that the renewable energy initiative would also reduce Abia State’s dependence on the national grid, ease the burden of frequent power outages on residents, and position the state as a model for sustainable development in Nigeria.

Madumere urged the state government to move swiftly from policy announcement to full implementation in order to guarantee energy security and promote a cleaner environment.

The Abia Patriots further pledged their support for the initiative, assuring of their readiness to advocate for and support its successful execution in the interest of the state and its residents.
