Bayelsa Deputy Governor Collapses, Rushed to Hospital

Bayelsa Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Yenagoa, on Thursday after collapsing in his office, triggering a brief scare within the Government House.

The incident occurred at about 1:30 p.m., prompting aides and security personnel to move him to the hospital’s emergency unit for immediate medical attention. Although there has been no official statement from the state government, sources suggested the health scare may be cardiac-related.

Hospital sources confirmed that the deputy governor has been stabilised and is receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit. Security operatives have restricted movement around the facility as part of precautionary measures.

Efforts to reach his media aide, Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful. Another source within the hospital said the deputy governor is receiving comprehensive medical attention and remains in stable condition.
