Bus Fire Disrupts Traffic on Third Mainland Bridge

A commercial bus caught fire on the Third Mainland Bridge on Tuesday afternoon, causing traffic disruption for motorists and commuters.

According to Punch, the incident occurred around 1:00 p.m. near the Adekunle axis of the bridge, affecting vehicles travelling inbound towards Iyana Oworo in Lagos State.

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority confirmed the development, stating that the burning bus obstructed traffic flow on the bridge.

LASTMA said its officers were immediately deployed to the scene to control traffic, while firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

Officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were also present at the scene.

No casualties were reported as of the time of filing this report, while the cause of the fire remains unknown.

The incident once again draws attention to frequent traffic disruptions on the third mainland bridge-a maor corridor that handles heavy daily vehicular movement.
