Desist From Distracting Governor Otti, Abia Patriots Warns UFNA

A civic group, The Abia Patriots, has condemned a 14-day ultimatum reportedly issued to Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, by a group identified as United Front for a New Abia (UFNA).

In a statement released to the media, the group described the ultimatum as unnecessary and capable of distracting the Governor from governance. It expressed concern over what it termed an attempt to create tension in the state under the guise of public advocacy.

The Abia Patriots stated that it was acting independently and not on behalf of the Governor, noting that its intervention was driven by a commitment to peace, accountability, and stability in the state. The group warned against actions it believes could undermine ongoing efforts at development.

Questioning the credibility of UFNA, the group described its claims as unverified and criticized the use of ultimatums and anonymous communication. It argued that such approaches do not reflect genuine engagement but rather suggest an attempt to destabilize governance.

The group further advised that individuals or organisations with grievances should make use of established government channels rather than resort to public threats. It highlighted the role of the state’s ombudsman office, led by retired Justice Kyrian Chukwuemeka Nwankpa, which is tasked with receiving complaints, investigating administrative issues, and promoting transparency.

In addition, it pointed to the Public Complaints Commission as another statutory body available to address public concerns through proper procedures.

The Abia Patriots urged the group behind UFNA to discontinue what it described as disruptive actions and allow the state government to focus on its development agenda. It reiterated the need for constructive engagement and lawful channels in addressing public issues.
