Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic to Matriculate Largest Intake, Commission Projects at Osisioma Campus

Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic Aba is set to admit its largest batch of New students as it holds its 32nd matriculation ceremony on Saturday, March 21, 2026.

The ceremony, scheduled for 10:00 a.m. at the institution’s pavilion, is expected to formally usher in new students into the National Diploma (ND I) and Higher National Diploma (HND I) programmes, marking the beginning of their academic journey.

Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, described the milestone as a reflection of the institution’s steady growth and renewed focus on academic excellence. He noted that the matriculation would also feature the commissioning of multiple projects at the Osisioma Campus.

According to the Rector, the campus established in 1994 has undergone significant transformation through ongoing construction and renovation efforts, positioning it for full academic operations in the 2026 academic session.

Prof. Kalu commended the Abia State Government under Alex Otti for sustained investment in infrastructural development, which he said has accelerated progress within the institution. He also acknowledged the support of the Honourable Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Uche Eme Uche, for her contributions to the Polytechnic’s advancement.

 the Rector stated, adding that the activation of the Osisioma Campus for full academic activities signals the realization of a long-standing institutional vision.

The event is expected to draw stakeholders from the education sector, government officials, and members of the public, as the Polytechnic marks another significant step in its development trajectory..
