Oladele Hands Over to New FCC Executive Chairman, Omidiran

The former Acting Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Hon. Kayode Oladele, on Tuesday handed over the affairs of the Commission to the newly appointed Executive Chairman, Hon. Ayo Hulayat Omidiran, at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

The handover followed the swearing-in of Hon. Omidiran by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu last Thursday. Oladele had served as Acting Chairman since July 2, 2025, after the exit of the immediate past substantive Chairman, Muheeba Farida Dankaka.

Speaking at the ceremony, Omidiran expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve and commended Oladele for providing leadership and stability during his nearly seven-month tenure.

She described the transition as smooth and professional, noting that Oladele’s stewardship ensured continuity and institutional balance within the Commission.

The new Executive Chairman assured commissioners and management of inclusive leadership, pledging to uphold transparency, fairness and national cohesion in the discharge of the Commission’s constitutional mandate.

Omidiran, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan Federal Constituency from 2011 to 2019, said she looked forward to working closely with commissioners and management to strengthen the FCC.

After the ceremony, she formally submitted the handover documents to the Commission’s Verification Committee for review and documentation, and announced the constitution of statutory and ad hoc committees to improve internal processes and enhance the Commission’s effectiveness.

The event was attended by the Secretary of the Commission, Mohammed Musa, state commissioners, key stakeholders and members of the media.
