SPECIAL REPORT: Abia State marks 2024 International Day of Older Persons

Abia state joined the rest of the world to raise awareness of the opportunities and challenges faced by the aging population, raise awareness and support for the elderly.

To mark the day, the Abia state Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection in collaboration with the Office of the wife of the Governor held an event to honor a cross section of aging Abians, from the seventeen local government areas of the state at the Ministry of Local Government And Chieftaincy Affairs, Abia State Secretariat Complex (JAAC BUILDING) in Umuahia.

The theme this year is ‘Aging with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide’.
