Labour Party Set To Commence Digital Membership Registration

The ICT Department of the Labour Party, the team responsible for developing the Party’s new digital membership registration platform, has confirmed that the system will be officially launched on Monday, 9th March 2026.

This development marks a significant step toward strengthening the Party’s digital infrastructure and ensuring a smooth, transparent, and efficient membership registration process across the state.

In preparation for the launch, all Ward Chairmen are hereby directed to return to their ward registers and collect the required information from every registered member. The deadline for submission is next weekend.

The required information includes:

1. Full Name

2. Sex

3. Date of Birth

4. Address

5. State of Origin

6. Local Government Area (LGA)

7. Ward

8. Polling Unit

9. National Identification Number (NIN)

10. Passport Photograph

These requirements are in line with the Electoral Act, which mandates all political parties to maintain both digital and hard-copy membership registers containing these details. Failure to comply with this requirement may lead to deregistration of the party.

Accordingly, all Ward Chairmen, stakeholders, labour unions, and party members in every ward and union are instructed to begin the collection of this information starting tomorrow. By Monday, collation and updating into the central register will commence.

This assignment is of great importance, while full cooperation and commitment of all party leaders and members is expected .

Meanwhile,there will be no excuses or delays, as it is imperative that the party meets all statutory requirements in Abia State.

Each ward and union is encouraged to convene a meeting of its members this weekend to facilitate the prompt collection of these details.
