Otti’s Performance Speaks for Itself, Opposition Driven by Self-Interest — Stakeholder

A Stakeholder in Abia State has dismissed recent criticisms of Governor Alex Otti’s administration by a group of former governors, describing the attacks as politically motivated and disconnected from realities on ground.

 Speaking during an interview, the Chief Liaison Officer of the Abia State government at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Iheanyi Chinasa said Governor Otti’s stewardship has delivered visible results across the state, particularly in infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and economic reforms, earning widespread commendation from traditional rulers and civil society groups.

According to him, the Otti administration has constructed and rehabilitated over 140 roads, introduced free and compulsory basic education, improved teachers’ welfare, renovated healthcare facilities, cleared salary arrears of health workers and strengthened security through the establishment of Operation Crush. He noted that reforms aimed at improving the business environment have also attracted investments and created jobs, describing the administration’s performance as unprecedented in Abia’s recent history.

Reacting to reports of an alliance by former governors Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Theodore Orji and former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu ahead of the 2027 governorship election, the stakeholder said the move reflects personal interests rather than genuine concern for the state. He dismissed allegations of poor performance and lack of transparency, citing the abolition of pensions and allowances for former governors and deputies as evidence of Governor Otti’s commitment to accountability.

He also rejected claims that the governor is merely “repainting” projects executed by past administrations, insisting that the scale and quality of ongoing infrastructure development speak for themselves. 

Looking ahead to 2027, the stakeholder expressed confidence that Governor Otti’s performance-driven governance has earned him strong public support, adding that Abians are ready to express their will through the ballot.
