2027 Nigerians Angry And Hungry For Change Dickson Declares

Former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson, has said many Nigerians are increasingly frustrated with the state of the country and are seeking political change ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Dickson made the remarks in Abuja during the unveiling of the digital membership registration portal of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, describing the initiative as a step toward expanding participation and strengthening the party’s national structure.

Dickson led the unveiling ceremony alongside the party’s National Chairman, Cleopas Moses, National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, as well as other party leaders and stakeholders.

Speaking on the current political climate, Dickson said Nigerians were dissatisfied with the status quo and were actively searching for credible alternatives.

“Nigerians are angry with the status quo. Nigerians are not only angry, but they are also hungry, and they are hungry for change. The NDC is available as the tool for effecting the change Nigerians want,” he said.

He described the party as a fresh and crisis-free political movement focused on ideology and national development, urging Nigerians to align early with the platform.

Drawing a biblical analogy, Dickson likened the emergence of the NDC to Noah’s Ark, calling on those seeking genuine political change to join the movement.

On the e-membership registration exercise, the senator said the digital platform would modernise the party’s operations and encourage wider participation among Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.

He added that although the party is only weeks old, it has already begun attracting attention and support nationwide, with structures across states, local government areas, and wards.

“We are a national party. We are a pan-Nigerian democratic movement. We are not a regional movement,” he said.

Also speaking, Cleopas said the digital portal would simplify membership registration while promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness within the party.

The launch of the platform comes about a week after Dickson resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party, citing internal crisis and poor leadership.

The former governor announced his resignation during a press conference in Abuja, where he said the opposition party had deteriorated significantly from its previous standing.
