AFCON 2025: Are The Super Eagles on Strike Over Unpaid Bonuses?

The Super Eagles have reportedly gone on strike over unpaid match bonuses at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Nigeria has recorded an impressive run at the AFCON, winning all four of its games to emerge as one of the standout teams in the competition. The Super Eagles have also scored the highest number of goals so far, with four goals to their name.

However, the campaign has been overshadowed by reports of unpaid entitlements. Renowned Nigerian journalist, Oluwashina Okeleji, disclosed that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) is yet to pay the players and officials their win bonuses for all four matches played in Morocco

The team’s strong performance marks a turnaround from their struggles in the build-up to the tournament, as they are now regarded as serious contenders for the AFCON title.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, there has been no statement by the Nigeria Football Federation.
