Otti Consoles DON Media Group CEO, Urges Family Not to Mourn Like Unbelievers

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, on Saturday joined members of the Abia State Executive Council and other senior government officials at the burial ceremony of late Dame Peace Onyekwuleche Igbokwe, mother of the Chief Executive Officer of DON Media Group, Mr. Lucky Igbokwe, popularly known as Don Lulu.

The funeral service, held at Wesley Methodist Church, provided an atmosphere of reflection and thanksgiving, as Governor Otti delivered a message of consolation to the bereaved family, urging them to draw strength from their Christian faith and not to grieve like those without hope.

Addressing the congregation, the Governor expressed confidence that the late matriarch, having lived a committed Christian life, had returned to her Maker and would be reunited with her loved ones on the resurrection morning.

“As you mourn, do not mourn like unbelievers, because she certainly knows she has reached heaven. As Christians, we believe that the soul would have gone back to the Maker,” Governor Otti said.

He reassured the family of the Christian hope of resurrection, noting that death represents only a temporary separation for believers.

“On that resurrection morning, when we shall meet to part no more, she will be among us. We will rise and meet her again,” he added.

Governor Otti also thanked God for the life of the late Dame Peace Igbokwe, describing her as a woman of substance whose impact transcended the length of her years on earth.

“It is often said that it is not necessarily the years in our life, but the life in our years. It is not about how long, but how well. If you read her biography, you will agree with me that she lived ahead of her time and raised wonderful children,” the Governor stated.

Dignitaries who accompanied the Governor to the burial service included the National Secretary of the Labour Party, Senator Darlington Nwokocha; the member representing Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha; members of the Abia State House of Assembly; and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Caleb Ajagba, alongside other senior government officials.

The funeral ceremony attracted family members, friends, associates, and well-wishers from within and outside the state, who gathered to celebrate the life, faith, and legacy of the late Dame Peace Onyekwuleche Igbokwe.
