2027: Diri, Lokpobiri Lead APC E-Registration Drive in Bayelsa, Vow to Deliver State for Tinubu

Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri, and the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Senator Heineken Lokpobiri, on Tuesday led the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration drive in the state, as party leaders pledged to mobilise support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the official flag-off in Yenagoa, Governor Diri urged party members to embrace unity and participate actively in the exercise, describing mass registration as critical to strengthening the APC in Bayelsa.

He said the APC symbol of the broom underscores collective strength, noting that unity remains the party’s most potent asset. According to him, both long-standing members and recent defectors must formally register to consolidate the party’s base.

Diri also emphasised the importance of party members possessing valid APC membership cards and Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), stressing that this would help protect the integrity of the party’s electoral process and prevent manipulation.

“We are not a small state. We must grow our numbers and ensure that APC remains a strong political force in Bayelsa,” the governor said.

In his remarks, Senator Lokpobiri described the e-registration exercise as a strategic step towards unity, internal cohesion, and electoral success. He said the initiative would enable the party to accurately assess its support base and organise effectively ahead of future elections.

Lokpobiri noted that the event marked a turning point for the APC in Bayelsa, as it brought together leaders who had previously been divided by political differences.

He pledged that the party would work collectively to win all elective positions in the state and secure victory for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

The minister commended Governor Diri for what he described as a reconciliatory leadership style, saying his interventions had helped restore harmony within the party.

According to him, former rivals within the APC were now working together towards shared political objectives, with the party operating as a united and indivisible structure in the state.

Lokpobiri urged party leaders and stakeholders to mobilise supporters at the grassroots for the e-registration exercise, saying wide participation would position the APC for stability and electoral success in Bayelsa.

Governor Diri, in a further appeal, said political parties should serve as platforms for development rather than division, stressing that shared identity as Bayelsans should supersede partisan differences.

Both leaders called on party members to return to their constituencies and intensify mobilization efforts to ensure broad participation in the APC e-registration exercise, which party leaders said would strengthen its structure ahead of 2027.
