The Abia State Ministry of Tertiary Education has concluded plans to establish a Research Hub at the Osisioma Campus of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, Aba, as part of efforts to strengthen academic research and accelerate institutional development.

The Rector of the Polytechnic, Engr. Prof. Christopher Okoro Kalu, disclosed this on Tuesday during a meeting with the institution’s management team, shortly after briefing them on the progress of ongoing projects at the Osisioma Campus.

According to the Rector, the Ministry has already made budgetary provisions for the Research Hub and has committed to furnishing campus buildings that have been awarded. He added that the Ministry would also support the construction of internal roads within the campus to further enhance infrastructure.

Prof. Okoro further revealed plans to establish a Demonstration School for children of staff, noting that the facility would offer educational services from crèche to secondary school level.

On academic administration, the Rector issued firm directives to officers in charge of student records, instructing that all outstanding results be uploaded without delay and that certificates for graduating students be ready by Monday. He warned against actions capable of undermining policies designed to advance the institution.

He reiterated that the Polytechnic’s major priority for the year remains the full relocation of academic activities to the Osisioma Campus, describing it as a critical milestone in the institution’s growth.

Prof. Okoro commended members of the management team for their commitment and expressed optimism that the current year would record greater achievements than previous ones.
